This Monday Thousands of passengers were grounded after a power outage. From the US to the Japan, every Delta flight was cancled or delayed after a power issue at their data center in Georgia. Georgia Power told The Wall Street Journal that they dispatched workers to fix an issue with switch gear on Monday morning.
“Our systems are down everywhere,” the company at one point told its customers on Twitter.
Delta ranks third in the world according to industry body the IATA.
Delta will be issuing flight vouchers and free transfers for all those affected. That cost can add up though. Emerson Network Power has been doing studies on the cost of a data center outage and found that the average cost was about $700,000 and the highest they have recorded was well over $2 Million.
