Big Changes Coming To Windows 10

Microsoft is currently working on their second big patch for windows 10 and they are saying that it is even larger than the anniversary update. The new update is code named “Redstone 2” however the name will likely change after Redstone 1 was switched to anniversary update. The update, which was scheduled for later this year has since been pulled back to wait for the new Surface hardware to come out. The new release Window has been moved to early 2017.

They have already started rolling preview builds out to insiders however there are no major features currently in the builds aside from some integration changes. We do however know some of the planned features they have been talking about over on the Microsoft insider blog so here are the three we find notable and exciting.

Contextual syncing between devices

Microsoft is working on a new feature that will allow you to sync your phone and apps to display notifications  on you computer. This will also include the option to make changes and actions to your phone from your desktop. Hopefully this will allow for a more streamlined integration between android and apple phones on windows desktop.

Office Hub

With Office Hub Microsoft will be more tightly implementing Office 365 into the windows UI. Some of these features include easy access to applications, documents and calendar applications.

People Bar

Microsoft is also working on a “People Bar” that will add a portrait of someone you have been in contact with recently to your task bar. This will integrate with outlook and Skype and possibly phones with the new syncing technology they have been working on. With the addition of Skype for windows 10 to the windows operating system this feature may become  very useful for both home and business users.
